The Bokashi One kitchen composting system is a convenient and hygienic process which utilises food waste to produce a nourishing compost and rich juice which inject life and vitality into your garden.

  • Bokashi One composts all food waste including, meat, fish, dairy, citrus, onions, egg shells, cooked, raw and processed foods.
  • Bokashi One composting is a responsible step to take to make a difference and to direct food waste away from landfill.
  • The system is practical, simple and easy to use and it’s terrific for your garden.

Bokashi One Bucket

The Bokashi One Bucket reduces the need for an outside compost pile and is easier to maintain than a worm farm. The bucket is 410mm high, 310mm wide and 300mm deep, stores neatly under kitchen sink. The Bokashi Bucket can hold approximately 19 litres of food waste.

The airtight lid ensures an ideal environment for anaerobic fermentation to take place, while controlling odours and deterring flies. Placing the plastic grate inside the bucket and then piling food waste on top of it separates the food waste from the liquid that accumulates at the bottom of the bucket. This liquid can be easily drained through the tap and used as a nutrient-rich fertiliser for the garden.

Bokashi One Mix - BUY SEPARATELY

Bokashi One Mix is sold in 1 kg bags, which are approximately 4 litres in volume. It is packaged in a resealable zip lock bag.

Bokashi One Mix is made here in Australia using a mixture of wheat bran and rice husks that have been sprayed with a group of micro-organisms that exist freely in nature.

Bokashi One Mix is dried thoroughly so it can be stored for years with no loss of effectiveness. The dry ingredients in the mix are simply a carrier and food source for the micro-organisms which are dormant when dry in the packaging and activate again when added to your waste. Bokashi One Mix ferments the waste in the Bokashi One Bucket, eliminating unpleasant odours. When the waste is buried in the soil, the mix accelerates the breakdown of the waste and adds life and nutrients to the soil.

Bokashi One Mix can also be used as a great compost starter!

Bokashi One Micro-Organisms

Micro-organisms are tiny units of life too small to be seen. They are everywhere in nature: in the air, soil, oceans, rivers, animals and the human body. The principal micro-organisms, in Bokashi One Mix are lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, photosynthetic bacteria, actinomycetes and fungi. These living organisms secrete beneficial substances such as antioxidants, vitamins, organic acids and chelated minerals which, when buried with the waste in the garden, build a healthier, stronger and more disease-resistant soil. In simple terms, they work rather like pro-biotics do in the human digestive system, with the addition of the effective micro-organisms creating good bacteria which compete against harmful bacteria.

Through adding microbes to your soil as opposed to synthetic fertilizers, you are enhancing the soil’s structure.

How exactly?

Because soil which includes organic matter and microbes:

  • is airier and looser

  • promotes root growth for your plants

  • retains more moisture and nutrients which promotes a healthier, happier garden

  • encourages the presence of soil organisms such as earthworms
